On the 20th of July, 2018, the long awaited Mamma Mia!' sequel, 'Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again' hit cinemas to widespread audience acclaim. The film centred around Sophie once again, this time taking place after the death of her mother, as she prepared for the opening of the Bella Donna Hotel. It features all the same cast members as the first movie, including Colin Firth and Meryl Streep, whilst also featuring Lily James and Jessica Keenan Wynn.
The film was thoroughly enjoyable. The great thing about 'Mamma Mia' is that it doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't; it is two hours of feel-good ABBA karaoke and is wonderful for letting go and having fun at the cinema. Every musical performance in the movie is simultaneously fresh and nostalgic, featuring some of ABBA's biggest hits like 'Knowing Me, Knowing You' and the title song 'Mamma Mia', as well as also featuring some of the lesser known songs such as 'When I Kissed the Teacher' and 'Kisses of Fire'.
Overall, the movie has a brilliant cast, an interesting plot, and has inspired a love of ABBA in younger generations.
